Hilton Grand Vacation Club… Worth Sharing
For as much time as I spend in Orlando, Florida I hadn’t been to Universal Studios in ages- I had always made Disney World my home away from home. But, being a product of the era of J.K Rowling I decided to make a pilgrimage to a place I had imagined in my head with such fervor I knew it had to be real: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

My best friend and I had been planning the trip for months! Her family and I were set to go a few days before Christmas, so then we could take in the decorations at Downtown Disney and also spare ourselves from the Florida heat. So, we packed up the car and began our trek. We had elected to stay at a timeshare because we took comfort in knowing exactly what we were getting, plus we were not in love with the idea of cramming four people into a tiny hotel room. When we arrived at the vast complex of Hilton Grand Vacation Club on International Drive knew we were in for a treat! The lobby was striking in itself, but the majestic Christmas tree and all of the decorations of the season made it seem even more beautiful. Our rooms did not disappoint either. We had a suite with one bedroom, a living room with a pullout couch, a kitchenette, and a gorgeous bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub.

We spent the entire next day at Universal, allotting most of our time to frolic around the Wizarding World. We drank butterbeer, ate cauldron cakes, tried on robes, played with wands, rode the Forbidden Journey and then named it one of our favorite rides, shopped in “Hogsmeade” and tried to convince people we weren’t muggles. After our long day filled with magic we retired back to the vacation club and we were surprised to discover that there was still a lot we could do! We went to a “movie night dive in” where we watched a movie on a giant screen while in the pool, we ate at some great restaurants, and then we lounged by the pool area.

Being my first experience with a Hilton timeshare I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I keep returning to Hilton timeshares because I was so pleased with my first visit!!

The Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina,

One of my favorite songs from a musical is called “I Miss the Mountains” from Next to
Normal. Granted, this song is about depression, but other than that it describes exactly how I
feel: I miss the mountains. The Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, to be more specific.
Gorgeous, relaxing, tranquil, gorgeous; that is how I would describe the area where I spent a
week. The timeshare we stayed at was nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, a place where time
just seemed to stand wonderfully still. I was lucky enough to be in North Carolina in October,
which is a roundabout way of saying that I was there when every leaf on every tree was a
beautiful fall color…
The greatest thing about where we stayed was that it gave us a great mixture of the quaint
city life of the area but also the serene “quiet-cabin-in-the-woods” feel. Our cabin was only a
short ride up the mountain but we felt like we were a world away. It was almost surreal to know
that while we were up in our cabin overlooking a mountain range, hiking, and four wheeling
there was a charming town called Bryson City. Some days we would drive down the mountain
and go shopping at little antique or oddity stores. Once, we even went gem mining!
Since that trip, I have wanted to go back more than almost anywhere in the world! The
trip was lovely and so many memories were made…
